As we have to analyze briefly the performance of the winners, we cannot include any comments about the great artists who had not won because it would be too long. The cantaores Domingo Herrerías and Antonio Vega shared the first prize in the Premio Antonio de Mairena de cante (Antonio de Mairena Singing Award). Herrerías sang a seguiriya de Manuel Torre, which was outstanding. It was the same when he performed the tonás. He has a strong voice, which is fit to sing those kind of cantes.

The cantaor Joaquín Garrido won the Fosforito Award. His performance of the caña will be well commented on amongst flamenco enthusiasts. We already knew he is a great artist, totally devoted to the song he is performing. With this award he receives the acknowledgment he deserves for his career as a cantaor. María José Pérez, a cantaora from Almería -Spain-, won the Antonio Chacón Award. In the competition she performed many cantes, such as malagueñas, granaínas, cartageneras, tarantas, tarantos and mineras. She played the granaína brilliantly and her performance of the tarantas and the tarantos –which are typical from her homeland-, showed everybody her mastery. The decision to award her was unanimous.

However, both Cayetano Muriel and Niña de los Peines awards were not awarded.
